Master the Guitar at London School of Art
London School of Art is an award-winning performing arts school that contracts professional, experienced tutors to work within the school. All instrument lessons are one-to-one and take place on the school's premises or online. Instrument lessons are available seven days a week, after school and on weekends.
The Guitar Department at the London School of Art offers the most comprehensive guitar education across all styles. We provide one-on-one guitar lessons in Electric, Acoustic, and Classical Guitar, allowing students to select any of these as their principal instrument.
We offer professional faculty who are specialists in each discipline, with coursework specifically designed to enhance your talents and abilities.
You can choose to learn to play an instrument for fun or prepare for Grade exams. Grade programs are designed for students with 2-3 years of experience who have passed late beginner levels.
Examinations can be an extremely motivating and positive experience for students when used correctly. We understand that exams are important not only for skill assessment but also for earning school points. However, exams should not be the sole focus of a musician’s education. We do not ‘fast track’ students through exams by compromising on the development of strong musical foundations.
Exams start at the beginner level and progress to professional Diplomas.
RGT@LCM Guitar Exams
RGT@LCM guitar exams are organized by the London College of Music Exams (one of the world's most respected music examination boards, established in 1887) and certificated by the University of West London.
From Grade One onwards, RGT@LCM exams are regulated by the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual), and UCAS points are awarded for Grade 6 and above.
Ten exam grades are available, ranging from Step 1 (for beginners) up to Grade 8 (for aspiring professional musicians and teachers). The London School of Art is one of the official exam centers in London, meaning all RGT guitar exams are held in our building, making the process easier for our students.
Grade Exam Commitment
Grade exams require a high level of commitment through regular practice, as well as strong parental involvement. It is the parent's responsibility to encourage and monitor their child’s practice at home. A minimum of 20 minutes, four times a week, is required. As students progress to higher grades, more practice time will be necessary.

- Receive a reliable and independent assessment of your playing level.
