Saxophone & Woodwind Lessons
The Woodwind & Brass Department at the London School of Arts offers the most comprehensive saxophone and woodwind education in North London.
We provide one-on-one saxophone lessons , along with clarinet and flute instruction, allowing students to choose any of these as their principal instrument. Our professional saxophone tutors specialise in woodwind performance, delivering coursework specifically designed to enhance musical abilities and build confidence in saxophone playing.
- Flute: Recommended for ages 7+, depending on the child's interest and ability to focus.
- Saxophone: Suitable for ages 8+ due to its size and complexity.
- Clarinet: An excellent starting point for younger students who may later transition to the saxophone.
Grade Exams
Grade exams require a high level of commitment through regular practice, along with strong parental involvement. Parents play a crucial role in monitoring and encouraging their child’s saxophone practice at home. A minimum of 20 minutes, four times a week, is required, with increased practice time as students progress to higher grades.
We believe that saxophone grade exams, when approached correctly, can be a motivating and positive experience. While exams are important for skill assessment and can contribute to school points, they should not be the sole focus of a musician’s education. We do not "fast track" students through exams at the expense of developing a strong musical foundation.
